Frequently Asked Questions

What is kombucha?

Kombucha is a naturally fermented tea made with a living culture called a SCOBY. It is lightly sparkling and contains beneficial organic acids created during fermentation.

Does UpBucha contain added sugar?

No. We do not add sugar after fermentation. The small amount of sugar used for brewing is largely consumed by the culture during fermentation.

Does kombucha need refrigeration?

Yes. Always keep your kombucha refrigerated to maintain freshness and slow down fermentation.

Why are there strands or particles inside the bottle?

This is completely normal. UpBucha is a raw, living product, so you may see yeast strands or small pieces of kombucha culture. They are safe to consume.

Is UpBucha pasteurized?

No. Our kombucha is raw and unpasteurized to preserve its natural living cultures.

How long does kombucha last?

Keep refrigerated at all times. Unopened bottles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 6 months. Once opened, enjoy within 3–5 days for the best flavor and freshness.

Can I shake the bottle?

Yes. You may gently invert or lightly shake the bottle before opening if you prefer. Open carefully because kombucha is naturally carbonated.

Where is UpBucha made?

Every bottle is handcrafted in small batches in Orlando, Florida.

Why does the flavor change after opening?

Because UpBucha is a living, naturally fermented beverage, fermentation continues slowly after opening. Over time, the flavor may become slightly more tart and carbonation may change. This is completely normal.

Can I drink the culture inside the bottle?

Yes. Seeing strands or small pieces of kombucha culture is completely normal. UpBucha is a raw, living product, and the culture is safe to consume.
